Reborn to Flourish, Part 6: Deception

"Reborn to Flourish" is an exposition of Proverbs 6:16-19—a passage that identifies seven things opposed to God's heart. At the center of the passage is the love God has for His children and His call for us to return to Him. The series will work backward through the list, identifying discord as a fruit that comes forth from a heart rooted in pride and other fleshly concerns. It will then emphasize God's transformational love that will revitalize the root and send forth tender branches and bountiful fruit.
Topics covered in Part 6: When a person invokes the name of Jesus while speaking lies against His law, he or she is literally “taking the name of the LORD in vain,” a violation of the third commandment of God. Today we’re going to dig into this deeper problem in the tree of wickedness; we’re going to consider the lying tongue. The deception of false prophets leads all who fall victim to the lie away from God and His people into the outer darkness of sin and death. Those who engage is false prophesy willingly create discord specifically by lying about what God said and convincing others to wander off the narrow path. The only escape from this darkness is the light of God’s Truth, which is found in confessing Yeshua’s identity and turning around to live according to God’s Word!
